Where is this place?

I'm not a big fan of pizza. It's never my first choice for grub, but Mike likes it and it's usually cheap and convenient. He had stumbled into this place with his best friend a while ago and I mean stumble literally.

Cafe 22 is hiding, tucked into a small tiny space in a big shopping center on MacLeod and Heritage. From the outside your thoughts are "really? this is a restaurant?" but yup, it sure is. There are about 8 tables all set up in a cheesy fake Italian scenery. The one with the fake trees and white Christmas lights up on the ceiling. Yah. Classy. We're the second table in there so I'd expect pretty quick service. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. She dropped off the menus quick enough, but by the time she came to take our drink order we were irritated. Two beers each please. It's easier that way, as she was getting busier.
This menu rocks. Pizza is dirt cheap. And they have calzones. SOLD! The calzones here are $7.44, you get 6 toppings and cheese is already included. What a freaking great deal!! Mike wasn't starving, so he ordered a single slice. What a joke. This thing could feed a small army. For $5.50 it was as big as 3 slices from a typical chain pizza joint. But it is homemade, fresh and delicious! The owner had come out at one point to drop off food and mingle around. I'd love to hear his story one day about his tiny little pizza joint.

This is the kind of place where you can show up, grab a seat in their comfy cushy chairs and waste the night away. Amazing deals on food, lots of drink specials and a really chill atmosphere. You can certainly kill a whole evening here and not even realize it. I know we will end up doing just that sometime soon.

Cheers to Cafe 22!
